(Tony
Inside Bechara’s thought process for his meticulously planned and
painted\ncolorful geometric grids\n\nPublished with Tony Bechara. \n \nPuerto
Rico–born, New York–based artist Tony Bechara (born 942) served as\nboard
president of El Museo del Barrio for 5 years, while also honing his
own\ngeometric abstraction process. Dividing his canvas into hundreds of
quarter-\ninch squares, Bechara meticulously fills each space in with
complementary\ncolors. The resulting grid paintings thus evoke a variety of
cultural\ninfluences: from Seurat’s pioneering pointillism to hard-edge
abstraction,\ntraditional weaving and 8-bit \"pixel art\" of the last half
century. In keeping\nwith Bechara’s richly chromatic oeuvre, this artist’s
book is inspired by\nBechara’s notes and color formulas that form the basis
for his acrylic\npaintings. It features over 30 s, with foldouts
and multiple\nmaterials, as well as a glossary of key motifs that introduces
Bechara’s\npersonal artistic language to the public for the first time.\n\n
